Babar Azam is having a very rough period, particularly as Pakistan’s captain. The 29-year-old, who seemed to be in solid form for both club and country before the ODI World Cup 2023, has now been questioned due to his failures in two showpiece events.

While Babar performed valiantly in needless bilateral series, such as series against Ireland, he tends to live up to the expectations when it matters. And his low confidence with the bat was visible when he was batting against Naseem Shah’s 18-year-old brother, Ubaid.

In a video which went viral on social media lately, Ubaid, who plays for Islamabad United in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), was seen bowling at Babar and Fakhar Zaman. There, Babar failed to pull Ubaid, and more significantly, he was hurt after the ball hit his body.

Notably, the PCB are yet to take a decision on Babar’s captaincy continuation. Shan Masood is expected to keep his role in Tests, while the white-ball captaincy, in T20Is and ODIs, are yet to be confirmed.

Pakistan will next play against Bangladesh in a two-match Test series at home, and it will get underway on August 21.
