Following the national French holiday, Paris 2024 and designer Ugo Gattoni collaborate once more to release a special edition of the official posters of the Olympic and Paralympic Games: the “celebration edition”. Available in 2,024 copies starting July 25, the “celebration edition” depicts Parisian monuments in a festive and nocturnal setting.
Paris 2024 invites you to celebrate in anticipation of the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games! Stamped with the Paris 2024 seal, the Celebration posters were all printed on 70x100cm format in France by the Official license of Paris 2024: Oneart. To be one of the 2,024 Olympic fans in possession of this unique design, connect to the official online store on July 25 at 9 am.
While the official posters of Paris 2024 included two separate illustrations for the Olympic and Paralympic Games, the “Celebration edition” combines both: “It symbolises the union of the two Games”, Joachim Roncin, design director of Paris 2024, explains to local media Ouest-France.
As luck would have it
Ugo Gattoni, designer of the official Paris 2024 posters, confides in a press release: “Around Christmas 2023, while I was still working on the official Paris 2024 posters, I unintentionally inverted the drawing’s colours, creating a nocturnal atmosphere with neon hues. Inspired by this false manipulation, I started designing a new version of the poster, modifying each color one by one, thus revealing new secrets of the drawing and paying tribute to the beauty of Parisian nights”.
The artist worked on the nocturnal illustrations for nearly two months, depicting details including lighting in the metro and no less than 30,000 figures. True to his artistic ideas, Ugo Gattoni allowed himself to reinterpret Parisian monuments in a subjective representation, leaving – among others – the Dome des Invalides without its cross.
An augmented reality experience
The success of the “Celebration edition” is anticipated as Paris 2024 reveals that more than tens of thousands of the original posters have already been sold. All holders of the daytime posters will be able to enjoy the new edition in a unique augmented reality experience on the Olympics official app. This innovative technology allows you to admire the new reflections, light shows, fireworks and monuments of Paris.
As an ode to celebration, freedom and life, the posters seek to unveil the energy of the French capital at night. Considered a genuine collector’s item, the “Celebration Edition” will be available for sale at a price of 200 euros.
